Individual Counseling

Individual counseling encompasses therapy for a single person for a variety of reasons or concerns. The focus of individual counseling is for the client to gain the information and develop the skills necessary to reduce or alleviate their current distress. Individual therapy includes areas of focus such as addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, conflict management, career counseling, parenting concerns, and skill development.

Veterans Services

Many military veterans have served their country honorably but at a cost to their own mental health. While some military members experience combat-related trauma, most experience family, occupational, and social distress unrelated to combat service.

Addiction and Recovery

Addiction is a multipart condition that is displayed through compulsive behaviors despite harmful consequences to oneself and others. For years the word “addiction” was primarily applied to individuals who abused substances such as drugs and alcohol. However, the term addiction can be extended to anything that produces a compulsive focus beyond the point of self-control or rational decision-making.

Gambling, shopping, sex/pornography, nicotine, and eating are some of the forms of addiction that can be detrimental to a person’s mental, physical and spiritual functioning. Addiction can also affect those that are exposed to compulsive behaviors. Family members, close friends, and coworkers often experience intense emotional (sometimes physical) hurt as they witness the effects of the addictive behavior.

There are several effective therapies for addictive behaviors and recovery. If you or some you know is battling with addiction or the recovery process, contact me for assistance on your journey!

Career Counseling

Career counseling services can help match clients to occupations that associate with their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Many successful companies use personality assessments to help them recognize successful candidates and to identify leadership potential. Career counseling allows the client access to many of the same types of professional assessments to target occupations that are compatible with the client.

Sometimes clients find themselves in a situation where they are living to work instead of working to live. Career counseling can help clients find the balance between an occupation that they love and a lifestyle that they can enjoy.

Unlike many of the individual counseling services, career counseling may only require one or two visits, depending on the level of career counseling desired. If a client finds that their assessed results do not align with their professional goals, additional sessions may be required to help the client define their professional goals, while exploring realistic methods to reach those occupational objectives.

Stress Management

Everyone encounters stress during their lives at one point—never-ending bills, demanding schedules, work, and family responsibilities—and that can make stress seem inescapable and uncontrollable. Stress management skills are designed to help a person take control of their lifestyle, thoughts, and emotions and teach them healthy ways to cope with their problems.
