About Miya Moore
Miya Moore-Felton is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (License #135910) and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (License #6751) who has a passion for helping people from all walks of life. Miya earned a BA in Social Psychology and Criminal Justice from Park University before receiving her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grace College. She retired after serving over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, where she worked as a certified Victims Advocate for sexually abused service members at home and in overseas locations. Miya teaches master’s level counseling courses as an adjunct professor at Holy Names University in Oakland, CA and Grace College in Winona Lake, IN.
During Miya’s military service she trained in stabilizing members experiencing post-traumatic stress and suicidal ideations. She also served as a Therapeutic Behavioral Specialist in Contra Costa County for children and adolescents who were experiencing multiple mental health diagnoses. Miya currently serves as a Graduate Instructor Assistant at Grace College, where she assists the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program faculty in developing graduate-level coursework, review, grade academic submissions, and provide tutoring services to students.
Miya believes that every person has their own unique story as life events have varying impacts on individuals. There is no cookie-cutter approach to treating trauma, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, ADHD, etc., therefore her approach with each client is tailored to the client’s needs.
